The Ottawa production of Godspell was a never-before-seen, freshly interpreted, contemporary adaptation (developed by 9th Hour’s artists) relevant to our society in 2018 Ottawa, and featuring real news ripped straight from the headlines. In Godspell (the very word meaning “good news” or “good story”), a rag tag group of today’s unlikely citizens join together to explore the different parables and teachings of Jesus using a wide variety of songs, games, and storytelling techniques. This classic high energy musical entertained audiences around the world for almost 5 decades, with music by award winning Stephen Schwartz (Wicked composer).
9th Hour was pleased to partner with Ottawa Innercity Ministries by raising funds after every performance for the Innercity Arts Program which provides a safe and supportive environment for Ottawa’s street-involved youth to engage in the arts community. Almost $7,000 was raised throughout the run of performances. “We can build a beautiful city, yes we can, yes we can.”
